The Tecra 540CDT and 750CDT have a S3 ViRGE/MX chipset, which is completely different from the C&T chipsets. Please see the specifications section for details on hardware equipment. WebStarting from version 3.2, XFree86 has support for the Chips & Technologies CT65550 that the 430 uses. However, this support is only stable on version 3.3. If you use 3.2, you should be experiencing a lot of lockups, I would advise you to upgrade to 3.3. Until then, maybe setting option "noaccel" will help you, at the expense of slower performance.
